Assessment of seedling salinity tolerance of Bangladeshi coastal rice landraces using morpho-physiological stress indices

چکیده
Salt stress has detrimental effects on the growth and development of rice seedlings. In present study we assessed salt-responsiveness three coastal landraces namely Nona-morchi, Kalihytta Nara. We conducted two factors pot trial that included five genotypes (three candidates landraces, Binadhan-10 as tolerant check BRRI dhan48 sensitive check) against salinity levels e.g., control (tap water), 6 12 dSm-1 sodium chloride. Study revealed that, at salinity, showed lowest reduction in shoot length (14.62%), fresh weight (30.04%) dry (33.71%) which was followed by Kalihytta, Nara dhan48. Two tolerance indices relative water content (RWC) electrolyte leakage (EL), also support salt-induced responses these genotypes. At highest level (12 dSm-1), RWC observed Nona-morchi (8.20%) is by
(11.38%), (38.93%), (36.30%) (36.51%). And, EL increased (40.06%) (22.06%), (21.12%), (8.64%) (5.87%) compared with their respective controls. Importantly, photosynthetic pigments profile (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll) were (24.48, 15.22 21.87%, respectively) (13.75, 12.50 13.41%, reduced (7.89, 19.42 11.08%, respectively), (27.76, 31.32 28.76%, (32.73, 36.97 34.02%, It to noteworthy salt stress, significantly decreased 23.07%, 17.32% 11.54%. While, no significant effect case length, root weight, . Among found highly moderately while identified dSm-1). future, might be ideal resource for breeding new varietie

متن کاملassessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea
data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
Morpho-physiological Response of Rice (oryza Sativa L.) Varieties to Salinity Stress
Morpho-physiological response of 7 rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties viz., Moroberekan, Co39, Azucena, Bala, IR64, Kalinga-III and Nipponbare was assessed under control and 100 mol m NaCl + 5 mol m CaCl2 stress in a flood bench system in greenhouse. Physiological and growth parameters were recorded after 21 or 42 days of salt stress. The statistical analysis revealed significant differences amon...
متن کاملEvaluation of salinity tolerance in rice genotypes
Salinity is considered as one of important physical factors influencing rice (Oryza sativa L.) production. Knowledge of salinity effects on rice seedling growth and yieldcomponents would improve management practices in fields andincrease our understanding of salt tolerance mechanisms in rice. This study was designed to assess the role of Saltol QTL in regards to effects of salinity on plant gro...
متن کاملEvaluation of grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) lines/cultivars under salinity stress using tolerance indices
Selecting and cultivating the crops/varieties that can tolerate water salinity is potentially animportant strategy to save fresh water resources and maximize the crop yield in salt affected areas. To evaluate the responses of 36 sorghum lines and cultivars to salinity stress, two fieldexperiments were conducted in non-stress (EC=2 dS/m) and salinity stress conditions (EC=12dS/m) using randomized...
